Women Helping Women off to Portland, OR

The Women Helping Women, Stitch by Stitch collaborative project is off to Portland, Oregon and will be on display in Portland's City Hall during the month of November.

Upcoming 2009 venues include exhibitions in St. Louis and Washington DC. Stay tuned for more information.

SIX WOMEN, SIX PERSPECTIVES Exhibition at Holy Family University Gallery

From October 5-29, 2008, I am part of the mixed media exhibition, SIX WOMEN, SIX PERSPECTIVES at the Holy Family University Gallery. The gallery is located in the lower level of the John M. Perzel Education Center, at 9801 Frankford Avenue in northeast Philadelphia. The opening reception is scheduled for 6-8 PM on October 13. All are invited and welcome to attend.

Also included in the exhibition are Jane Craven, Kathy Dobash, Bonnie Macallister, Meredith McDonald, and Sonia Sherrod. Thanks to Pamela Flynn for organizing this exhibition.

Update on The Information is Not Knowledge Project

The Bookverks 2008 Information is Not Knowledge Project, of which I am a participant, will be on view at the Grassroots Arts Facility (GRAF) from October 2-24, 2008. The GRAF is located at 143 Christopher Columbus Street in Jersey City. All are welcome to the opening, taking place on Thursday October 2, from 7-10 PM.

The exhibition will be on view during the Jersey City Studio Tours, October 4-5, 2008, from 12-6 PM.

Bookverks 2008 The Information is Not Knowledge Project

Upcoming in October I am one of the artists invited to be part of the Bookverks 2008 Information is Not Knowledge Project, curated by Amanda Thackray and James Prez. For this project, a number of artists were each given one volume from a set of the Encyclopedia Britannica, and asked to do whatever they pleased to it.

My contribution, Earth Volume, made from Volume E, Earth-Everglades, began its tranformation by composting the text block. Two oak tree seedlings are now growing out of the former pages.

This project will be on view in the New Jersey City Canco building during the 18th Annual New Jersey City Studio Tour on the weekend of October 4-5, 2008. Other venues to follow, check back here future postings and more information!

LUOGHI DELL 'UTOPIA

The Migratory Books Project is currently part of the exhibition THE UTOPIAN LIBRARY/LA BIBLIOTECA UTOPICA, in Viareggio, Italy, through the 24 of August 2008. Read below for statements and information by Vittore Baroni, the coordinator of this project.

Dear friends,

in a few days the festival LUOGHI DELL'UTOPIA ("Places of Utopia") will start here in Viareggio with two rooms of the historical Villa Borbone devoted to the collective project The Utopian Library. I received artist's books from over 100 international artists, and 50 more books were selected from my E.O.N. archive. I want to thank you all for generously taking part in this project, and for the variety and relevance to the "Utopian" theme of the books that will be freely handled by the audience. If you happen to pass through Viareggio, on the West Coast of Italy, the exhibition that includes works and installations from 45 artists opens on Saturday July 26th at 7.30 PM with a series of short performances. Villa Borbone is at the middle of Viale dei Tigli, a street connecting Viareggio to Torre del Lago, and the show will be open till August 24th (hr. 6,00-11,00 PM, closed on Monday and Tuesday).
